The Story of Stuff with Annie Leonard

I believe that this piece on sustainability is a great motivator for all people because when it comes down to it we are all consumers. Maybe it should concern us more as designers? I think that as designers we have to design for all the areas:

1. Extraction: If we design with already recyclable materials or biopolymers we can only head in the right direction. this is the basis of the other steps if we are responsible here we can create a cleaner environment.
2. Production: Using less destructive and polluting means of production.
3. Distribution: Designing things and can be efficiently distributed.
4. Consumption: Designing quality products that will last. Maybe even incurring the "real cost of production" onto consumers.
   
5. Disposal: This all goes back to step 1 if we were responsible there disposal will no longer be a problem.
